Well, it seems that the Charlotte Hornets will remain on Bally Sports after all, at least for now.

Friday, A report from Daniel Kaplan of Awful Announcing has surfaced that Diamond Sports Group, the parent company of Ball Sports, has reached an agreement to continue broadcasting games from nine NHL teams and 13 NBA teams.

“Bally Sports Regional Networks has taken a major step toward emerging from its long-running bankruptcy proceedings by signing new agreements with the NHL and NBA to broadcast the teams’ games through at least the end of the upcoming 2024-25 season. The news was contained in court documents asking the bankruptcy court to approve the deals.”

According to the report, Diamond Sports Group must have a Chapter 11 exit plan in place before the end of the upcoming NHL and NBA seasons. Otherwise, current contracts will be terminated.

Hornets fans have been incredibly harsh in their opinion of Bally Sports over the years. Having an exclusive streaming deal for games makes it difficult for those who don’t have internet, have a strong internet connection, or may not be willing to pay the subscription fee. A local TV deal seems like the most ideal route, but those discussions won’t begin until the current deal with DSG expires.
