Milwaukee Bucks Before Bobby Portis Jr. knew he had to sit out Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton out due to injury. Portis Jr. scored 28 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and recorded two assists in a 113-106 win over the Clippers.

He made a big move off the bench for the Bucks. He may be one of the favorites to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. Portis Jr. was one of the reasons he helped Milwaukee come back from 15 points against the Clippers.

It helped when Damian Lillard scored 41 points for Milwaukee. This isn’t the first time this season that Portis Jr. has stepped up in an important moment for the team. Portis Jr. said Jonas Panerio from Sports Illustrated after the game saying:

The guys in this locker room worked. Take some time. Especially when guys come out, it’s like a next man up mentality. Especially in the NBA, guys aren’t going to play 82 games. So at some point your opportunity is going to present itself. The most important thing is to stay prepared and be ready for the moment. I think the guys came in and made a big impact.

Bucks fans were liking the way Portis Jr. played Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. He is a fan favorite and many people are happy they didn’t trade him at the NBA trade deadline.

The fact that he has scored 20 or more points in a game nine times this season is pretty impressive for a role player. These are the kind of players who win NBA championships. Portis Jr. helped the Bucks win one a few seasons ago. They can’t afford to lose their glue guy all this time.
