Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is one of the best young stars in the NBA.
For his part, Kevin Durant, 2014 MVP, is starting his 18th season in the NBA (and his third with the Phoenix Suns).
Both were seen They’ve played together a lot over the past four months, as they’ve competed in the NBA playoffs (and were teammates on Team USA).
Recently there has been speculation about their possible collaboration in the NBA one day.
Carmelo Anthony spoke about the rumors on a recent episode of his podcast (7pm in Brooklyn).
Anthony: “I hate what-ifs. Do I think it’s ever going to happen? Maybe. In his last couple of years, he’ll see an opportunity where he can go help someone like ANT. It’s a possibility, but I don’t think the fact that they’re cool and they hang out together, it’s like they’re talking about teaming up. Athletes don’t have time. They don’t want to worry about a bunch of bullshit. Athletes feel comfortable in their environment and who they’re with.”
Anthony gives a good insight as he was once one of those superstars that fans and media alike speculated about.
The NBA legend appeared in ten All-Star Games and averaged 20 or more points per game in 14 of his 19 seasons.
Additionally, Anthony knows Durant well, as they were teammates on Team USA twice (and competed against each other for over a decade).
If they ever do, Edwards and Durant would make an intriguing duo, but for now, that seems like just a guess for what the offseason will bring.
