The New York Knicks are going to be among the teams competing for the Eastern Conference championship this year. Not only did they sign Mikal Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, but they also re-signed OG Anunoby and will be getting Julius Randle back from his shoulder injury.
Carmelo Anthony was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks in 2011 in a trade that shook up both conferences. The Knicks never won anything, but they were very entertaining.
Anthony recently spoke about this year’s Knicks and how “Knicks Melo” would fit into that team. In his podcastAnthony says he thinks he would be extremely effective in today’s NBA.

“Like back in 2012, 2013, 2014? I think I’ll be very similar to what I was back then because of the makeup of the team,” Carmelo Anthony said. “I’m not just going to score, but I can be very efficient and control what I need to do in this offense. If I take that player and apply it to today’s game, it’ll be very efficient, very effective.”
“From what I know now and what I have to say and what I’m able to implement today. That being said, to be able to play in this type of system today, where it’s like four out, one in, pass and move, I can call anybody on the court that I want in that pick and roll. I can dictate that. Honestly, with this team, I’m averaging 28 [points]” . “

Carmelo Anthony is averaging 28 points per game, which is a pretty bold claim, but hard to argue with given his talent. Anthony has had three seasons where he scored at least 28 points per game. Two of those seasons were spent with the Nuggets and the third was with the Knicks. During that 2012-13 season, Anthony averaged 28.7 points per game, which was the best in the league.
