Cleveland, Ohio — The Cavs are traveling to Indiana to take on the Pacers in the final game of their three-game road trip.
Just as the Cavs thought they were getting a key player back on their roster, disaster struck again for a team that has been plagued by injuries all year. Dean Wade, after being out for personal reasons, returned to practice with the team in Houston before the game against the Rockets, but sat out due to knee soreness. And after being sidelined with a knee injury, Donovan Mitchell took an accidental elbow to the nose, in addition to aggravating his knee again against the Rockets, and he will be sidelined again against the Pacers.
But the Cavs found a way to surprise playoff-contending teams with wins over the Celtics, Timberwolves and Mavericks over the past two weeks, while having several players injured.
This will be the first time the Cavs face the new-look Pacers, who acquired Pascal Siakam before the trade deadline. Indiana is also in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and is undoubtedly trying to move up the standings and avoid the play-in tournament.
The Cavs, however, are trying to avoid a fall in the standings, currently third in the East.
