The Celtics are once again on a lengthy injury report as they face the Pistons on Friday at 7 p.m. in Detroit. Six players – all in the rotation – are listed on the injury report with various designations. To start, Jrue Holiday (right AC joint sprain) is the only player already eliminated.

The following four players are also all questionable: Jayson Tatum (right ankle impingement), Jaylen Brown (right ankle impingement), Al Horford (left big toe sprain) and Kristaps Porzingis (right hamstring impingement). On the plus side, Sam Hauser was reclassified to probable due to his recent sprained left ankle.

Debatable questions aren’t too surprising across the board. The Celtics also have a back-to-back Friday and Saturday as they face the Bulls in Chicago after Detroit. So in that sense, the Celtics could look to shift Horford and Porzingis between these games. Regardless, Luke Kornet and Xavier Tillman have been more than capable big men in the rotation recently.

Tatum and Brown are likely just managing their rest, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them also stagger between Friday and Saturday games to ensure there’s no extra wear and tear. Holiday will miss his second straight game with a sprained AC joint.

Hauser sprained his ankle in the Wizards’ win earlier this week, while he was red-hot en route to a career-high 30 points and 10 3-pointers. But he couldn’t make Celtics history because of his injury. Fortunately, the sprained ankle doesn’t appear to be too serious as he will only miss two games if he returns on Saturday.

The Celtics are 55-14, is coming off a win over the second-place Bucks Wednesday. They’re up 11 games with just 13 games left this season, so they’re poised to take home-court advantage through the East playoffs. The C’s also beat the Pistons earlier this week in Boston.
