Earlier this week, the Charlotte HornetsThe social media team gave a glimpse of LaMelo Ball playing golf for the first time, along with some of his teammates and vice president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson.

On Thursday night, the Hornets brought rookies Tidjane Salaün and KJ Simpson to Truist Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Charlotte Knights game.

Salaun started his throw well, but didn’t back up or follow through. Instead, he threw it toward the plate while keeping his hand in the air like he’d just drained a three-pointer. Sometimes you just can’t take the ball away from the player. At least he got it to the plate and threw a catchable ball. The same can’t be said for Charlotte’s second-round pick KJ Simpson, who bounced the throw about five feet in front of the plate.

It was an interesting week for the Hornets players who played other sports they weren’t used to. Maybe we’ll see Mark Williams or Taj Gibson bowling some balls next week.
