Current NBA rookies have some of the craziest statements anyone has ever heard. Chicago Bulls rookie Matas Buzelis has one that might just turn heads.
Buzelis was a guest on The Deep 3 podcast where he was asked if there was a hill in the NBA he was willing to die on. His response was that Carmelo Anthony is the greatest scorer of all time.
“Carmelo Anthony is the greatest scorer of all time,” Buzelis said. “I think Carmelo Anthony is a five-level scorer: post-up, layup, mid-range, three-point, off the dribble. So, everything. I don’t think people understand how crazy it was to defend him. He’d make a move, he’d get fouled, they wouldn’t call it, and he’d make the same move again and he’d burn you.”

Make no mistake, Carmelo Anthony is a phenomenal scorer. However, he is ranked 10th among the top 10 all-time scorers in the regular season and doesn’t even make that list in the playoffs. He has never averaged 30 points per season, and his career average is only 22.5 points. For comparison, Michael Jordan has a career average of 30 points per game. Being the best scorer also means scoring the most points.
Buzelis’ bizarre attitude seems to echo a move that every NBA rookie has. Players like Brandon Miller consider Paul George their GOAT even though George has never played in an NBA Finals. It seems like young players just want to go against the grain, just for the sake of it.
