CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Hornets are getting their new practice facility thanks to the city council.

Zoning changes were approved earlier this week at a council meeting that will allow the Hornets to build a two-acre facility on a parking lot along North Caldwell and East 5th Street.

The small zoning changes will allow the Hornets some freedoms, such as placing large signs along the building.

Hornets fans welcome the change and hope it will bring a breath of fresh air to the organization.

As part of the deal, the city agreed to contribute $30 million toward the facility. Hornets management also plans to build a parking garage on the same site.
