THE The Cleveland Cavaliers had only one pick in the 2024 NBA Draft in June. With that selection, the Wine and Gold took Jaylon Tyson from the University of California.

One of the most anticipated moments for these promising players is seeing their ranking in NBA 2K. The rankings were revealed on Friday afternoonand Ceveland’s recruit received a 70 in total note before the start of the season.

14 other players in that rookie class received the same grade as Tyson, including LAL’s Dalton Knecht and ORL’s Tristan Da Silva (for reference, the highest-rated rookies are the Atlanta Hawks’ Zaccharie Risacher and the Washington Wizards’ Alexandre Sarr at 75.)

Tyson’s ranking is about the same as everyone else’s, but based on what we’ve seen of him already, he could definitely see that rating rise quickly.

Tyson appeared in all five Cavaliers Summer League games in June. He averaged 15.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 58 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. He demonstrated his ability to be a playmaker on both offense and defense, posting a near triple-double against the Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team.

What Tyson showed in Las Vegas is consistent with what he did in college. In his senior year at Cal, Tyson averaged 19.6 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc.

2K regularly updates his rankings throughout the season, and it will be fun to see how Tyson progresses during his first year.
