The NBA season is just around the corner and with it comes a ton of new questions. One of the most interesting questions for this NBA Draft reporter is how the Cleveland Cavaliers will use rookie swingman Jaylon Tyson.

In the June 2024 NBA draft, Tyson was selected 20th overall out of Cal, where he averaged 19 points, six assists, three assists and 1.7 points per game while shooting 46% from the field, 36% from the 3-point line and 79% from the free throw line.

Tyson was one of the best defenders in this draft and brings valuable instant-winning skills to a Cleveland team looking to make a push in the Eastern Conference after returning its top four players this offseason.

With a new coaching staff in town, the question remains how Kenny Atkinson will deploy Tyson during the 2024-25 season — especially if Isaac Okoro, who is still a free agent, leaves Cleveland.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will open their season, and a new era under Atkinson, on Oct. 23 in Toronto against a feisty Raptors team. While they won’t be a threat to the East, the North team won’t be far behind. This should be a good test for Cleveland right out of the gate as they try to figure out their rotation.
