THE The Cleveland Cavaliers The Red Sox took a big gamble on young star Evan Mobley this summer, signing him to a five-year, $224 million contract extension.
Mobley, a 23-year-old forward, has shown major signs of development over his first three years. However, there is one aspect of his game that needs to take a leap forward this year.
As noted Gospel of King JamesThe Cavaliers need Mobley to be more assertive in his fourth season.
In attack, he has the qualities to be a deadly weapon. However, he has not yet shown that he is capable of taking over. He still needs to improve his performances this year.
If Mobley could become an aggressive offensive player, Cleveland would be a much better team right off the bat.
During the 2023-24 NBA season, Mobley played in 50 games. He averaged 15.7 points per game, along with 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 blocks. Mobley shot 57.9%.
He is clearly capable of being a very efficient scorer. If he put his mind to it, he could easily score 20 points per game. He has the physical size and skills to become a major threat.
Now that the Cavaliers have paid him big money, they expect more from Mobley.
Not only did Cleveland pay him a big contract, but they also chose not to be aggressive in signing outside talent. They are banking on Mobley and Darius Garland to take a big step forward. If those two players don’t improve in a major way and become better offensive players, the 2024-25 season will end in disappointment.
That being said, it will be interesting to see what the 2024-25 season holds for Mobley. Hopefully, he will be able to make the leap the Cavaliers need from him.
If he does, Cleveland should take a big step forward and become a threat to the Eastern Conference elite.
