The Dallas Mavericks have now lost four of their last five games, and many of their struggles are magnified due to their inability to play consistently.

One of Dallas’ biggest challenges has been the poor play by Tim Hardaway Jr., and they need him to be much better if Jason Kidd is going to keep him in the rotation. Kidd only played against Hardaway Jr. for 15 minutes Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ersand this could be a sign that its role could diminish further.

As we look ahead to Dallas’ game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, Mavs star Kyrie Irving reassured fans that they will figure things out even if they are struggling right now.

“Everything’s going to be OK, it’s for everyone watching at home,” Irving said. “We have to have confidence that we will be able to do the work necessary to achieve these victories. We have already shown that… No more excuses.”

Irving has taken full responsibility here and seems confident that Dallas can turn things around. This is the same team that just won seven games in a row, and they can start playing that way again if everyone is convinced and they bring great energy.

Lack of energy has been a problem for the Mavs in many of their losses this season, and Luka Doncic and Irving need to lead this team, set the tone and bring energy from the start of games. If the stars bring the energy, the rest of the team will follow.

It’s too late in the year to give up games they should be winning, and they need to do everything they can to avoid they missed the playoffs like last year. This team is too good to miss the playoffs, and they need to figure out how to play together again and play with some urgency as the end of the season draws closer every day.
