Riding a two-game losing streak, the Chicago Bulls entered Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night looking to bounce back with a win against the Indiana Pacers. Tyrese Haliburton and company are fighting for playoff positioning as the Bulls try to maintain their spot in the Play-In tournament.
After a wild block by Pascal Siakam on Coby White led to the point guard leaving the game, it looked like the Pacers were going to pull out the win. But that’s when DeMar DeRozan intervened. After Obi Toppin knocked the ball out of bounds following a missed free throw, DeRozan recovered the ball on the inside pass and knocked down the game-tying midfield.
Chicago won the game in overtime, and afterward, DeRozan talked about his game-winning shot.
“It’s like survival mode kicking in, in a fun way,” DeRozan said. via ESPN. “You enjoy these moments. For me, I just enjoy these moments. I’m not afraid to fail. I’m not afraid to try to make things happen. I want these moments more than anything. It always reminds me of my childhood, being a kid and doing the little fake countdown, jumping on the bed, shooting.
DeRozan finished the game with 46 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block while shooting 15 of 24 from the field and 1 of 6 from distance.
