Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White is best known for his two-way play on the court, but he’s swapped the green and white for a different uniform — like Your Cousin from Boston in Samuel Adams’ latest commercial .
He is the latest Boston sports star to be featured in the ad series, joining the likes of Kevin Garnett And David Ortizand for this episode, Sam Adams goes “full Bahston” White, putting him in Your Cousin From Boston’s iconic blue flannel shirt, Carhartt jacket, and Timbs, even though he’s reluctant to do so.
White, a Colorado native, is a typically good sport, wandering around town with Your Cousin as his tour guide. The couple spends the day scratching for lottery tickets and practicing the Massachusetts vernacular.
After listening to a Boston sports radio show to think about “how great Derrick White is,” the cousin says it’s time to treat himself to a beer. But since it’s 11 a.m., White suggests not drinking alcohol.
For White, however, there are no days off. At the end of his Beantown adventure, one of Boston’s best point guards takes time to practice his aim, throwing cans of Boston’s best beer into a nearby trash can.
Patty and Peter Hoyt met on the kindergarten playground in Amesbury, Massachusetts, and never left. Their son, Greg Hoyt, starred as “your cousin from Boston” in Samuel Adams’ Super Bowl commercial.
