Having evolved in and around the NBA for several decades now, Detroit Pistons Legend Isiah Thomas has been fortunate enough to have been around a lot of elite talent. Recently, the Hall of Fame point guard decided to weigh in on one of the biggest debates among basketball fans and analysts.

As LeBron James nears the end of his career, the conversation between him and Michael Jordan about the GOAT has only come to the forefront. As they sat down for a interviewThomas decided to share his thoughts on the subject. Considering all of his statistical exploits, the Pistons legend believes that LeBron is the best player to ever step on an NBA court.

I mean, when you talk about assists, points, rebounds, we’ve never had a player in the NBA that’s touched every statistical category and led in some of these statistical categories that we’re talking about. There’s never been another player like him. Now, everybody’s got their favorites, but if the numbers don’t lie, the numbers don’t lie. And he definitely passes the eye test. So to me, he’s the best I’ve ever seen from a team standpoint and also as a basketball player.

LeBron, who just won his third gold medal with Team USA, has a list of accomplishments that seems endless. When he decides to end his career, he will undoubtedly be one of the greatest players in basketball history.

Given their history, it’s no surprise to see Thomas siding with LeBron over Jordan in this debate. The two were bitter rivals when they played, and there are rumors that MJ is the reason Thomas wasn’t selected to play on the Dream Team. For that reason, the longtime Pistons point guard might be reluctant to crown MJ the GOAT.
