What there is to know
If the bettors’ predictions are true, the near future looks promising for the Pelicans. They will stay on the road Sunday to face the Detroit Pistons at 3 p.m. ET on March 24 at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons suffered a loss in their last game and will look to turn things around against the Pelicans, who are coming off a win.
The game between the Pelicans and the Heat on Friday was close at halftime, but the Pelicans lit the fire in the second half with 65 points. Everything went in New Orleans’ favor against the Heat as the Pelicans took a 111-88 victory. The victory came thanks to a strong push at the 6:49 mark of the first quarter, as the Pelicans faced a 14-2 deficit.
CJ McCollum stood out offensively from the competition by scoring 30 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Pistons’ recent rough patch got a little tougher Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a crushing 129-102 defeat against Boston. This defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for the Pistons in their confrontations with the Celtics: they have now lost nine in a row.
James Wiseman had a good effort for the losing team, nearly posting a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds.
New Orleans has had some good results recently as they have won eight of their last ten games, which has resulted in a nice improvement to their 43-27 record this season. As for Detroit, they haven’t been very good recently as the team has lost 40 of their last 50 games, which is consistent with their 12-58 record this season.
The Pelicans beat the Pistons 125-116 in their previous matchup in November 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pelicans since the team won’t have home court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change of location makes a difference.
