NBA Hall of Famer and former Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki wants Mavericks superstars Luka Dončić and Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokić to eventually team up in Dallas.

Nowitzki is in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to celebrate the retirement of point guard Goran Dragic, which will end Saturday in a friendly match. Speaking to reporters, he said he would prefer Jokić to go to Dallas to team up with his fellow European star.
“I hope it’s in Dallas,” Nowitzki told reporters, by Cesare Milanti of Eurohoops“I’m not sure it will ever happen, but obviously both of them are two of the best players in the world, if not the best players in the world.”
“They both have a great relationship, they respect each other and they genuinely like each other,” Nowitzki added. “They spend time together. I’m not sure, but of course we want Luka to stay in Dallas as long as possible. I hope he finishes his career there, but I love Jokic’s game, the way he plays with passion, and the skill level as a big is unbelievable. They’re both unbelievable players.”

A potential Dončić-Jokić duo would be a scary thing in the league. Both players are top-five players in the world and are perhaps the two best contemporary offensive talents in the league. A title would be on the horizon for these two superstars if they ended up becoming teammates.
Although the German superstar never had the opportunity to team up with another superstar in his career (Jason Kidd was in a different phase of his career when he arrived on the team), Nowitzki still brought the city of Dallas its first and only championship in 2011.
Jokić did the same thing in the 2022-23 season when he led the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever title. As for Dončić, he failed last June The Mavericks were defeated by the Boston Celtics in five games during the 2024 season NBA Finals. It was the first time the Mavericks had reached the Finals since 2011.
