The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a fourth straight game Thursday night with another dominant victory on the Charlotte Hornets. These two teams face off again for the second time in three nights after the Bucks wiped out the Hornets Tuesday, 123-85.
Thursday’s result wasn’t as lopsided as that one, but Milwaukee still managed to establish its supremacy over a hapless Charlotte team via a victory 111-99.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Weighs In On Win Vs. Hornets
After the game, an elated Doc Rivers spoke to the press to discuss his team’s dominant performance. One particular facet of the game that Coach Doc highlighted was the quality of Milwaukee’s ball movement. The fact that the players were able to keep the ball moving throughout the competition played a central role in their victory.
Rivers praised Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard for getting the ball rolling – figuratively and literally:
“It’s really nice,” Rivers said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “You need your stars to be the guys who make the right plays and they did that. Giannis and Dame started and Brook tonight, extra passes. Bobby extra passes. Pat Connaughton walked by me in the third quarter and said, “Is that what you mean by good to great?” The fact that he thinks that is just good for our team. It helps everyone. It’s easy to play hard on defense when you know the ball is being played correctly on offense.
Defense has been Rivers’ biggest concern since his arrival, and he has put a lot of effort into making the necessary improvements in that regard. However, there are several other things on his plate, which is why it’s great to see the Bucks making significant progress in other areas of their game.
Again, a lot of this is due to the leadership of Giannis and Lillard. They have continually reminded their teammates what needs to be done night after night, but perhaps more importantly, they also lead by example.
“It’s starting to become contagious,” Beasley said. “I think people are excited to be next to their man because you’re going to get the swing. Bobby had what, four assists tonight and they don’t usually double him, so the fact that he was able to let us know, it was a good feeling.
