THE Sacramento Kings The St. Louis Cardinals missed the 2023-24 NBA playoffs, but that didn’t stop their stars from outperforming their peers. De’Aaron Fox led the league in steals per game (2.0), and Domantas Sabonis led the league in rebounds (13.7 per game) by an overwhelming margin.
While Sabonis is very impressive in the NBA in rebounds, double-doubles and triple-doubles, he also leads the league in another statistic that many didn’t expect.
Sabonis led the NBA in miles traveled during games last season, according to The Muse of the Hoop.
Total number of kilometers traveled in 2023-24:
219.30 — Domantas Sabonis
211.70 — Mikal Bridges
209.40 — Dejounte Murray
206.20 — Jalen Brunson
204.10 — Keegan Murray
203.80 — Coby White
202.20 — Pascal Siakam
201.80 — De’Aaron Fox
201.80 — Paolo Banchero— Hoop Muse (@HoopMuse) August 20, 2024
While Sabonis led the league in most cardio throughout the season, his star teammate De’Aaron Fox ran more miles per game (2.73) than Sabonis (2.67), with rising star Keegan Murray (2.65) also entering the top ten.
The fact that the Three Kings ranked in the top ten in yards per game last season is an odd statistic, but it’s not shocking. It’s further evidence of how good Sacramento’s offense is, with constant movement making it easier to score.
Sabonis is the only center on both of these rosters, but his versatility as a point guard is the main reason he can move around so much. Sabonis has missed just three games over the last two seasons while putting in just as much work in each outing.
