Green Draymond suffered a close 114-110 decision on the road to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. After a fast start, the Dubs allowed the home side to methodically reduce their lead before succumbing to defeat. The Warriors missed a few key baskets, while their defense was unable to contain the hosts.

Golden State’s loss dropped their slate to 36-34, putting them just one game ahead of the Houston Rockets for the final play-in ticket. The Bay Area team will be on the road in its next four games before returning home for a showdown with the Dallas Mavericks. Green’s team could slide further in the standings before battling with the Rockets on April 4.

After the loss to the Timberwolves, Draymond Green was asked if he was watching the team that was trying to pursue him. The charismatic player immediately responded:

“I don’t care about the Rockets.”

The four-time champion probably didn’t mean any disrespect to the Houston Rockets. What concerned him most was the way they played. After a scorching February, the Dubs are only 5-7 in March. With the Rockets’ rise, Golden State’s 10th place in the West is suddenly up for grabs.

The Bay Area team suffered back-to-back losses where they had a double-digit lead and let the advantage slip away. They led by 12 points against the Indiana Pacers Friday before giving in 123-111. The Dubs took the same lead against Minnesota and wilted again in the second half.

Draymond Green said they are in a precarious situation because they can’t win the games they are supposed to win. For him, a championship must be a group that can take care of business and achieve more when it matters most. This season, the former Defensive Player of the Year lamented the Dubs’ ability to do that.

Draymond Green thinks the Warriors should have beaten the Timberwolves

Draymond Green said after the loss to Minnesota that the Warriors weren’t able to consistently beat the teams they were supposed to beat. He also added that they also missed opportunities when they could have created a surprise against favored teams.

Green went so far as to say the Dubs should have gotten a different result on Sunday night:

“Of course (we should have won the game). We had too many breakdowns. You simply can’t win when there’s a breakdown. It changes the dynamic, and dynamic in this league is not easy to find.

Draymond Green added that they could avoid breakdowns and possibly lose to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Having these breakdowns and hoping to beat a “technically better team” was almost impossible, he said.
