Howard argues that facing Garnett was a tougher task than facing the Spurs icon.

SAN ANTONIO — Former NBA great Dwight Howard faced two top-tier forwards during his playing career: Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.

However, as for which of the two forwards was a more difficult matchup, Howard maintains that facing Garnett was a tougher task than San Antonio Spurs icon.

Reacting to an episode of the Gilbert Arenas Show where Arenas and Nick Young argued that Garnett was a better player than Duncan, Howard chimed in to add his thoughts to the debate.

“KG was always my favorite player and I will say KG was harder to compete with than Tim,” Howard posted on X.

A look at some head-to-head stats proves that Duncan has edged Howard in their matchups.

The two men have played against each other 32 times in the regular season and playoffs combined.

Duncan won 19 games to Howard’s 13. In the playoffs, the two teams met four times, with Duncan’s Spurs beating Howard’s teams 4-0.

When it comes to NBA titles, Duncan surpasses Howard five rings to one.

Duncan may have had a mental advantage over Howard. Remember the famous video of Duncan mocking Howard as he left a game against the Spurs when he was a Lakers?

So this is not the first time Howard has launched verbal attacks on Duncan.

On his podcast, “D12 Above The Rim,” he called Duncan “baby food” and said he “demolished” the Spurs legend when he faced him.

“They say Tim Duncan is one of the best power forwards of all time. And I just tore him apart every time I played against him. He was like a baby to me.”
