THE Detroit Pistons The Yankees are expected to welcome a handful of new veterans for the 2024-25 NBA season. Malik Beasley, a first-round pick for the past eight years, is among them.
Although the Pistons have yet to reconvene for their 2024 training camp, Beasley has been working out in the offseason and supporting his new team in the process.

Despite a hefty salary cap hit heading into free agency, the Pistons didn’t break the bank with an All-Star signing. However, they were productive once the signing period opened and signed complementary role players to round out Cade Cunningham’s roster.
Beasley comes to Detroit with a solid background under his belt. In 2016, Beasley left Florida State and landed with the Denver Nuggets as the 19th overall pick in the NBA that year.
Beasley didn’t have much of a role to play in his first two seasons in Denver. He averaged less than four points in 84 games. In his third year, his role increased. He averaged 23 minutes on the floor, appearing in 81 games. He even started 18 times.
Beasley was producing 11 points and three rebounds per game. In year three, Beasley averaged 40% from three-point range. After playing 41 games with the Nuggets in year four, Beasley was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He spent two and a half seasons with the Timberwolves before being traded to the Utah Jazz. Midway through the 2022–23 season, Beasley was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Last summer, Beasley hit the open market before signing with the Milwaukee Bucks. He started all but two of 79 games. Averaging nearly 30 minutes of action, Beasley averaged 11 points per game on 41 percent three-point shooting.
With a 39 percent shooting percentage from three and nearly 500 games in his career, Beasley is a perfect fit for the Pistons. The 27-year-old may not be in Detroit for long, but he fills a temporary need as Cunningham could use a lot of shooting around him.
