As the 2024-25 NBA season draws closer, the Sacramento Kings are preparing for a return to the playoffs after missing them last year.

Kings re-sign guard Monk Malik and was named a six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan This offseason, they will solidify their rotation. Sacramento’s future is on the line as head coach Mike Brown aims to lead his team to a championship.

ESPN staff believes that De’Aaron Fox and DeRozan, “one of the most decisive backcourts in the league,” as both aim to lead the Kings to a playoff run. 47 wins would be just one more than last season, a year in which injuries and close games cost the Kings the 8th spot in the Western Conference.

Landing two spots behind the Kings in ESPN’s predictions, the Golden State Warriorsa team the Kings eliminated in the play-in tournament last season. The Kings’ West Coast rival lost the sharpshooter Klay Thompson this offseason, but they are sure to fight when led by Steph Curry.

Last season, the two California teams finished with the same 46-36 record. The Kings have made more big changes on paper than the Warriors and could have a breakout season.

Team chemistry and player development will determine the fate of the Kings. If DeRozan, Fox and Domantas Sabonis mix well, many beams will be lit in Sacramento. Keegan Murray And Keon Ellis Taking a leap forward in development would also help, but only time will tell.

The Kings will start against the Minnesota Timberwolves October 24 at the Golden1 Center to open the season.
