Floyd Mayweather has always been a boxing icon, with his $400 million making him the world’s richest boxer. However, his entire fortune was once set to flow to an NBA team that potentially dominates the league in terms of advertising. Minnesota Timberwolvesand with Anthony Edwards’ potential to become the next face of the league, the team is creating buzz within the NBA community. However, the 47-year-old was unable to purchase the team due to the unprecedented situation he revealed during a meeting with Wolves co-owner A-Rod.

About two years ago, Floyd Mayweather shed light on the Wolves buyout in he declared, “I’ve been working on buying this team for a few years now, but the reason it didn’t happen when I tried to buy the team is they told me I could buy the team, but I couldn’t move it out of Minnesota.” Apparently, it appears that Floyd began trying to get redemption long before his official statement. Handsome boy even admitted in 2017 that it was “it was about time” for him to own an NBA team.

By fall 2022, Floyd even revealed, “We’re working on buying an NBA team. So we offered them a little over $2 billion for a majority stake.” The only team available at the time Money made this revelation was the Phoenix Suns. However, the deal could not be completed, likely due to the Suns’ real importance at the time. But the Wolves deal that Floyd Mayweather spoke of reached a strange impasse when he added: “It’s like a romantic relationship. You have a wife, she doesn’t work, you take care of everything, but she’s the one who gives you orders.”

He didn’t reveal any details, but clearly that wasn’t the case. “go to work” for the 47-year-old. Yet after all this time, Floyd has not lost his admiration for the Wolves as he asked their icon for help ahead of his fight against Gotti.

Despite the disappointment he must have gotten for buying the Timberwolves, Floyd Mayweather has not lost his admiration. If that had been the reason, he would not have called Anthony Edwards to join his entourage. Anthony Davis and Ant-Man will accompany Floyd Mayweather to the ring when the boxing veteran faces Gotti III again. And this is not the first time that Floyd will go to unite with Edwards publicly.
