Former Colorado men’s basketball player Jamahl Mosley has agreed to a four-year contract extension to remain head coach of the Orlando Magic, as announced Tuesday.

Mosley, named head coach of the Magic in 2021, led Orlando to a 37-28 record this season, good for fifth place in the NBA Eastern Conference. He took over a team that finished 14th in the conference in 2020-21, but has steadily improved under Mosley with a solid young core. Now that his contract is solidified through the 2027-28 season, Mosley will have time to continue building his team.

Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman said the following in a press release:

“Jamahl and his team have done a tremendous job not only this season, but since we hired him in 2021. His preparation, his work ethic, his ability to connect with players and the passion he brings to the game work every day brings positive results, both on and off the field. We are very excited to have Jamahl leading the Magic for years to come.

Mosley played for the Buffaloes from 1997 to 2001, averaging 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists over four seasons. He earned third-team All-Big-12 honors as a junior.

After beginning his coaching career in 2006, he held assistant positions with the Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks before becoming a coach. join the Magic.
