It seems that the old Utah Jazz The big man has outside interest from other NBA teams ahead of his impending overseas departure.
According to SNY Ian BegleyFormer Jazz center Omer Yurtseven had an offer on the table with the The New York Knicks after a successful off-season training, although it was not a scenario he would “seriously consider”:
“I contacted the Glass for more clarity and Omer worked for NYK, as did Marc Stein
“The training took place in early July. NYK made an offer to Omer. It was not something he would seriously consider. Panathinaikos and Omer are close to an agreement but nothing is done.”– Ian Begley, SNY
While the Knicks appear interested in adding some interesting depth to their frontcourt rotation, it appears that the Turkish big man is not on board with the idea of playing in the NBA for another season, and would rather return to Europe for a chance to play with Panathinaikos.
Yurtseven just completed his third NBA season, his first two years before joining Utah having been with the Miami HeatHe played 48 games with the Jazz during the 2023-24 season, posting 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists in just over 11 minutes per game. The 26-year-old also started 12 times during the season.
The terms of Yurtseven’s contract with Panathinaikos are expected to be finalized in the coming days. However, if things go south, the Knicks could be an outside contender to land the former Jazzman.
