The Dallas Mavericks take on the Detroit Pistons on the road tonight, and they will look to extend their winning streak to two games after beating the Miami Heat on Thursday night.
Dallas’ once-struggling defense looked much better, and Luka Doncic and company took care of business. While the story of the night was Dante Exum’s play in the clutch and his re-emergence as a key piece for Dallas, Doncic’s dominant night cannot be overlooked.
Doncic lost another 30-point triple-double and is only the second player in NBA history to win five straight 30-point triple-doubles. These performances have started to be overlooked by the media and fans, as Doncic seems to do it almost every game.
But that doesn’t mean Doncic shouldn’t get his flowers, and that’s exactly what many in the NBA world are doing. Doncic enters his villain era, and many in the NBA world criticize his style of play.
Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley did it during TNT’s broadcast of the Mavs-Heat game Thursday night, and former Mav Chandler Parsons did it the next day. Parsons said that “as a teammate, it’s a little exhausting watching the same (expletive) over and over again,” when it comes to Doncic.
Parsons also advised Doncic to take a leaf out of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic’s book.
“Take the most shots, play the most minutes, get the most assists and triple doubles, do what [Nikola] Jokic does it,” Parsons said. “But find a way to do it to keep everyone happy and win games.”
“I think [Luka Doncic] is an incredible talent, he is literally a guard version of [Nikola] Jokic, where he can do everything… But as a teammate, it’s a little exhausting to watch the same shit over and over again.”@ChandlerParsons on Luka Doncic. pic.twitter.com/tZBT7sPXke

Parsons’ opinions on Doncic are baseless, considering he was never his teammate, and all of Doncic’s teammates seem to enjoy playing with him. Advising Doncic to be more like Jokic is also a bit strange, as they are completely different players and play for different teams.
This statement alludes to Doncic involving his teammates more like Jokic does. He also could have been referring to Doncic being more engaged without the ball in his hands like Jokic.
Doncic and Jokic are also great friends off the court, and maybe The star team-up duo could be in their future.
