It’s no surprise that the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t rush to re-sign Danilo Gallinaro once free agency opened several months ago.

Brought in via the trade market last season, Gallinari didn’t shine in his 17 regular-season games with the Bucks, averaging 2.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Plus, with the emphasis on injecting more youth into the roster, it wouldn’t have been a good idea to re-sign the 36-year-old who just turned 36.

Although he probably won’t be returning to Milwaukee anytime soon, given that their the list is completely fullGallinari isn’t giving up on his hopes of finding another NBA team to sign him before the season.

In a recent interview with “La Repubblica”, Gallinari raised the possibility of going abroad, a logical question, given the lack of NBA offers coming his way. “A return to Italy? Not yet,” was his quick response.

It’s understandable that the veteran forward remains hopeful that someone will make him an offer, as he feels he still has something to offer. However, with camp and the preseason approaching, he doesn’t have much time left to get signed.

At this point in his career, he’s best suited to be a depth piece in the frontcourt, serving as an emergency icebreaker for a cap-star-star-star-star team. The days of Gallinari being a surefire double-digit scoring threat are over, but he may still have some value to bring as a veteran to someone’s locker room right now.

In the interview mentioned above, Gallinari mentioned that he was willing to play anywhere as long as it was a competitive franchise. A good place for Gallinari would be a younger team that is on the rise and is in a position to compete next season. The team that stands out Most are the OKC Thunderhis former team, as they have young talent but are contenders who could use another veteran in the locker room.
