The Boston Celtics may have won an NBA title this season, but it hasn’t been a fun summer for their two All-Stars. Jaylen Brown wasn’t selected by Team USA, Derrick White replaced Kawhi Leonard on Team USA, and Jayson Tatum was benched multiple times during the Olympics.
Some have even begun to believe that the NBA deliberately tried to break up the Celtics, including former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.
During an episode of Gil’s Arena Show, the former Grizzlies guard revealed why he thinks the league is trying to break up the Boston Celtics, before the Olympics even begin.
“Man, they dismantled that team,” Arenas said. “Have you ever seen a championship team dissected like that? The best player, whether it’s you or him, you’ve got the world doing it. Then you don’t [Team USA]he wasn’t invited. And then what happens is somebody leaves, and then a teammate… so they’ve already hurt you. And then they throw even more dirt on you with the Bronny thing, making you the bad guy. Boom! Now Bron’s mad at you.”

Arenas believes the unfair treatment continued during the Olympics, where Tatum was receiving DNPs while Derrick White was playing.
“Then you go to the Olympics where Jayson Tatum feels good … DNP,” Arenas said. “Let the world know … and then let the actors play.”
For what it’s worth, Gilbert Arenas is not the only one who thinks this way. Former NBA star Lou Williams also believes the league may have a conspiracy against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
If there’s one positive thing to take away from this summer for the Boston Celtics, it’s that the team should be especially motivated to silence its critics next season.
