This summer, the The Philadelphia 76ers The Bulls signed veteran center from the Chicago Bulls in Andre Drummond. Chicago now gets a former standout developmental player back in the Sixers organization as the Bulls reportedly signed Kenneth Lofton Jr. this week.
According to Athletics Shams Charania, Lofton sign one-year deal with Bulls. It appears his spot on the team isn’t guaranteed, as the insider noted Lofton is “competing for a roster spot” with the Bulls during the 2024 training camp period.
Lofton’s NBA journey so far has been filled with developmental success. However, while playing on the main teams, he has struggled to make an impact.
In 2022, Lofton entered the NBA as an undrafted prospect out of Louisiana Tech. He signed a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. During his rookie career, Lofton appeared in 24 games on the Grizzlies’ main roster. He averaged five points and two rebounds per game.
Last season, Lofton played 15 games for the Grizzlies. In late December, he was released. A few days later, Lofton joined the Sixers on a two-way contract.
While the Sixers were struggling with injuries in their frontcourt, Lofton played on the team for a while. However, he only played in two games for the 76ers. Most of Lofton’s playing time came at the G League level with the Delaware Blue Coats. Despite a lack of opportunities with the Sixers, Lofton stood out for Delaware.
In 11 games with the Blue Coats, Lofton averaged 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists. He shot 55 percent from the field and averaged 31 percent from three-point range. The Sixers made some roster moves at the end of the 2024 season, leading the team to part ways with Lofton in early March.
Ten days later, Lofton joined the Utah Jazz. During the final stretch of games, Lofton made four appearances on the court for the Jazz. Spending 23 minutes on the court per game, he averaged 60% of his shots, producing a career-high 14 points per game.

The small sample size wasn’t enough for Utah to keep Lofton long-term. During the offseason, the Jazz waived Lofton. After spending a few weeks on the free agent market, Lofton landed with the Bulls.
