At a meeting between the Sunshine State franchises, the Magic will open the regular season on the road on October 23 at Miami.
After his first trip to the playoffs in four years, Orlando will welcome Brooklyn in his home opener two days later at Kia Center.
THE NBA released the full schedule Thursday afternoon, with an opening night on October 22 featuring a pair of flashy contests for the East and West with the The Celts against the Knicks and the Lakers against. The Timberwolves.
Departure on difficult road: Seven of the Magic’s first nine games will be away from home. The first half includes matchups against five teams that reached the playoffs last season: Miami, Indiana, Cleveland, Dallas And Oklahoma City. Jamahl MosleyThe team welcomes the Pacerswho reached the Eastern Conference Finals as a No. 6 seed on Oct. 28 and completes a five-game road trip Nov. 6 at Indiana.
National Television Appearances: More than one game, which is an improvement for the Magic, who have five games scheduled to air in prime time: three on TNT and two on ESPN. The first will be on the road on Nov. 1 in Cleveland in a rematch between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the East from last postseason (ESPN). The Cavaliers travel to Orlando on Feb. 25 (TNT). Last year, the Magic hosted the Thunder in mid-February on TNT, which was the franchise’s first regular-season home game on the cable network since 2012. This season, the 2022 No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren and the Thunder return to the Kia Center on Dec. 19 (TNT). Orlando visits the defending champion Boston Jan. 17 (ESPN). Additionally, the Magic are scheduled to have four games on NBA TV.
Return of the tournament in season: For Orlando, the NBA Cup will begin on November 12 at the Kia Center against Charlotte, the first night of a two-game series. Three days later, the Magic will host Philadelphia in Group A of the East. They travel to Brooklyn on November 29 and to New York on December 3, the final day of the group stage. In between those games in New York, the Magic face the Nets in a non-Cup game on December 1. The three away games are part of a larger five-game road trip that concludes with non-Cup matchups with the 76ers (December 4 and 6).
The champions are here: Boston, which beat the Mavericks in five games to win the franchise’s 18th championship, will travel to Boston twice. The first meeting at Kia Center is scheduled for Dec. 23 and the second will serve as Orlando’s regular-season home finale on April 9. As mentioned above, the Magic will travel to Boston in mid-January as part of a two-game road trip that begins two days earlier in Milwaukee.
The longest homestands: The Magic will play two six-game homestands throughout the season. The first, which begins with a nationally televised appearance against Oklahoma City, spans 11 days from Dec. 19-29 and concludes with a Sunday matinee against Brooklyn. The second, which spans 12 days from Feb. 21-March 4, includes a second nationally televised spot against Cleveland before concluding with a pair of games against TorontoThe Magic also have a five-game home schedule from Nov. 8-15 that spans eight days.
The longest car trips: It will last six matches over 11 days, from January 27 to February 6, ending against the Nuggets — a match that will serve as Kentavious Caldwell-PapeThe return of DenverOrlando also has a five-game road trip that lasts eight days, from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6, that includes two NBA Cup games in Brooklyn and New York (TNT).
Consecutive break: After playing 15 consecutive games last season, Orlando will now play just 13. That’s 26 games played on consecutive days. Five are home-and-away games and four are home-and-away games.
Battle of the No. 1s: Paolo Banchero against this year’s first overall pick, Zaccharie Risacherwill play twice at the Kia Center when the Hawks visit on Feb. 10. The other three games will take place after the All-Star break, including Orlando’s regular-season finale on April 13 at Atlanta.
Heavy road finish: Four of the Magic’s last six games have been away from home, including the final two games of the regular season. However, only half of those six games are against teams from last season’s playoffs.
The Magic’s journey begins again with training camp on October 1 at the AdventHealth Training Center.
