Trajan Langdon has been patient in his first offseason as the Detroit Pistons’ president of basketball operations.

He has cleared his new team of some dead weight, but has not done the complete housecleaning as some expected, preferring to keep all his young players in order to be able to evaluate them in a better context.

With more shooting and veterans on board for next season, it should be easier to make decisions on extensions for players like Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren. If they don’t make a three-year jump with a better supporting cast around them, we could see bigger changes next summer.

But for now, the Pistons have some salary cap space and two open places on the listSo the question of how they are going to fill them still remains.

Langdon is in no rush to use the remaining $11 million under his salary cap or fill his two roster spots, which is smart.

There will be plenty of negotiations before next season begins, and by saving money and roster space, Langdon could put the Pistons in a position to take advantage of a big deal as the third team.

However, there are still a few free agents who could help the Pistons depending on what they want.

It’s hard to see them bringing in another veteran unless it’s a pay cut for assets, but they could bring in a younger draft pick and there just happens to be one available with ties to Trajan Langdon.
