Notable changes from NBA 2K24

Several Clippers players saw their grades change significantly from last year’s version. Most notably, Kawhi Leonard dropped two points despite a very solid season that saw him named to the All-NBA Second Team. James Harden dropped five points after a season where it became even clearer that he was no longer in the best shape.

Derrick Jones Jr. gained four points after his breakout season with the Mavericks, making him the most improved player on the Clippers roster. Another notable change was PJ Tucker, who lost three points after a hugely disappointing year.

Star players

Kawhi Leonard (SF/PF)

Rated 92 overall in 2K25, Kawhi received his lowest rating since 2K16, where he was 87 overall. This was very confusing to many, given his incredible season with the Clippers in 2023-24. Making an All-NBA team is no small feat, and Kawhi did it while playing the most regular season games since 2016-17.

The game’s developers likely considered health as a major factor, though. With Leonard not finishing the season healthy and missing most of LA’s playoff games, that likely led to a much lower rating than expected. Kawhi has a 98 rating for his intangibles, which is the highest of any player in the game.

James Harden (point guard/guard)

Harden comes in with an 84 overall rating in 2K25, down five points from the 89 overall rating he was given last year. That’s the lowest rating James has received since 2K13 came out in 2012. Once Harden arrived with the Clippers, it became even clearer that he had lost much of the first step that once made him one of the most lethal scorers in the conference.

Still, Harden has proven to be an excellent passer in the game. He has a 95 ball-handling rating and a 94 passing IQ. He is one of only 15 players in the game with a 98 or higher stamina attribute.
