Minnesota Timberwolves fans and anyone who calls themselves a basketball fan have been eagerly awaiting the waiting for the release of NBA 2K25The most popular NBA video game is set to release its new version during the first week of September, leaving basketball fans and video game enthusiasts alike eagerly awaiting everything the game has to offer.
Every year when the game is updated, fans wait to see the updated ratings of each player in the association. For those unfamiliar with how 2K works, the game’s developers assign each player on each team a numerical value (between 0 and 100) that determines their overall usefulness in the context of the game. These numbers, called player ratings, are updated every year to ensure that the game is as realistic as possible.
Here, we’ll take a look at how 2K rated each Timberwolves player for 2K25 and also assess the accuracy of key player attributes in-game.

Notable changes from NBA 2K24
Several Timberwolves players saw their overall rating change significantly from last year’s version. Most notable among them was Anthony Edwards, who rose seven percentage points to an incredible 95 overall after Minnesota’s spectacular 2023-24 season.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s ratings both increased by three points, while Mike Conley, Naz Reid, and Luka Garza each saw their ratings increase by two points compared to NBA 2K24. The only Timberwolves player from last season to see his rating drop was Jaden McDaniels, who dropped by one point.
Star players
Anthony Edwards (NCO/Non-Commissioned Officer)
With an 88 rating on 2K at the start of last season, Edwards earned the biggest raise of any Timberwolves player after their extremely successful season last year. Only eight players in the entire game have a higher overall rating than him. The three players to also earn 95s alongside Ant are Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, and Devin Booker.
Edwards has a 92 grade in the outside scoring category, including 98 in shooting IQ and offensive consistency. The game’s developers have clearly taken into account everything he’s added to his offensive repertoire over the past 12 months. Defensively, he has a grade of 83 in perimeter defense and 85 in defensive consistency.
Karl-Anthony Towns (PF/C)
Karl-Anthony Towns has made a nice rebound with his overall rating in 2K25. The big man saw a significant drop after the 2022-23 season with an overall rating of 85, his lowest rating since his rookie year. But after a nice bounce-back year on the court, the game’s developers have shown him their respect with a new overall rating of 88.
Outside scoring is arguably KAT’s most valuable attribute in the game. He’s rated 90 or higher in close-range shooting, free throw shooting, and offensive consistency, making him a very viable force as a mid-range and long-range scorer. Playmaking and defense remain his weakest attributes with ratings of 66 and 58, respectively, but he makes up for that with solid upside (88 rating) and intangibles (95 rating).
