Community Rules
Welcome to Denver Stiffs! We’re glad you’re here.
Denver Stiffs is a community where sports fans from all walks of life come together to share their passion. We strive to create a fun and welcoming place for everyone to come with us. These guidelines help ensure that this happens. Here’s the short version:
- Be respectful in your interactions with contributors and other fans.
- Don’t be a jerk and don’t treat others like fools.
- We will remove anything we see that puts our communities at risk.
- We ask that you do your best to limit the conversation to sports and primarily our favorite NBA team. For what? Because there are plenty of other sites where you can express your opinion on everything from politics to soup recipes.
- You can help us. If you see something that doesn’t meet our guidelines, let us know. Report any comments or usernames that violate our guidelines so our community managers can review them.
These rules extend throughout our communities: in our comments, on social media, and in real life.
We do not allow any of the following:
- Personal attacks: This includes name calling, insults, threats, hurtful comments about a person’s appearance, voice or style, and all other forms of attacks. We want our communities to be welcoming and fun. Personal attacks are the opposite of this.
- Attacks on staff members: It’s okay to criticize a post, disagree with a take, or point out errors. However, we put an end to personal attacks (see above) against authors, editors, moderators, etc.
- Discriminatory or derogatory language: This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism or other forms of discrimination.
- Harassment: This includes, but is not limited to, bullying; hunt down; unwanted photographs; inappropriate physical contact; use of images, comments or jokes of a sexual or discriminatory nature; and unwelcome sexual attention.
- Wishing Harm on Athletes: Don’t worry about an injury, don’t worry about the harm that might happen to a coach or athlete. You may want someone fired or released, but don’t expect bodily harm.
- Misinformation and disinformation: Sharing blatantly false information about current news or world events, beyond the scope of reasonable opinion or sports analysis, can harm our communities. These comments will be deleted and may result in suspension or banning.
- Illegal Activity: Do not promote, encourage, or ridicule any type of illegal activity, including drunk driving, domestic violence, or sexual assault.
- NSFW images and comments: Keep it PG-13 or you’ll be removed. This includes comments and images of a sexual, violent or generally offensive nature.
- Excessive profanity: Fans get upset on game days, and we’re fans too. We understand that. As a general rule, keep profanity to a minimum. Some communities prohibit profanity, so be sure to check the guidelines of the different communities you participate in.
- Multiple accounts and throwaway emails: These indicate that you are not interested in being a productive member of our communities, and we don’t allow it.
- Trolling: We know it when we see it and we will remove it. Also, don’t go into a rival team’s community just to piss off their fans. Additionally, you should never post private or personally identifiable information. Doxxing is strictly prohibited.
- The “First Post” Rule: If you violate any of these guidelines in your very first post or interaction, it signals to our community managers that you’re just there to disrupt. Violators may be banned, blocked or deleted.
- Spam: We have a zero-tolerance spam policy, which includes sharing links to illegal game streams or downloads. Spam will be deleted and spammers may be banned, blocked or deleted.
Anyone who does not follow these rules when engaging in our communities will, at best, be excluded from the conversation and, at worst, end up being banned from that community. These decisions will be made at the discretion of our community managers and other Mile High Sports staff. Community managers and moderators have the final say on the interpretation of a violation of our community guidelines and on all decisions resulting in a warning, suspension and/or ban.
If you see any of these things happening in our communities, please report it and it will be investigated. You can also contact us via our contact page.
