One of the only bright spots in the Golden State Warriors’ disappointing 2023-24 season was the play of Brandin Podziemski. The young guard showed he was capable of being a starter in the league, and the Warriors saw something they liked in him.
It turns out the Golden State Warriors like Podziemski so much that they’ve refused to trade him in numerous scenarios. Some of them would have been trades for Paul George or Lauri Markkanen. According to Anthony Slater of The AthleticThere were even more offers the Warriors turned down for Podziemski.
“The Warriors received multiple mid- to high-value draft pick offers for Podziemski in June, team sources confirmed,” Slater said. “The Warriors, however, refused to bite. A few weeks later, Podziemski’s trade value became a hot topic when it became clear that the Utah Jazz, if they were considering moving Lauri Markkanen, would need Podziemski as part of the return package.”
As it stands, the Golden State Warriors have declined to trade Brandin Podziemski for high draft offers Paul George and Lauri Markkanen. Owner Joe Lacob has made it clear that he views Podziemski as an All-Star caliber player who could join Steph Curry.
With so much pressure and expectation on Brandin Podziemski, it’s now up to him to repay the faith the Warriors have placed in him. Hopefully the pressure isn’t too much for the 21-year-old point guard.
