The Portland Trail Blazers (17-42) overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit
and beat the Memphis Grizzlies (20-41), 107-100, in overtime Saturday at
FedEx Forum. Portland won both matches in this straight set to win the
season series, 3-1.
Anfernee Simons led the Trail Blazers with 30 points, including 18 points in
fourth quarter and overtime, and recorded seven rebounds and seven assists. Jabari
Walker recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 18 points and 12
rebounded, scoring his first consecutive double-double of the season. Toumani
Camara added 15 points.
Santi Aldama And Vince Williams Jr. both finished with 21 points and eight
rebounds for the Grizzlies. G.J. Jackson recorded 17 points.
Memphis led 81-63 with 9:29 left in the fourth quarter, but Portland was able to chip away
the deficit at 95-91 with one minute remaining. Walker made a layup and sank two free throws
throws to tie the game at 95 with 1.3 seconds left to force overtime.
Portland topped Memphis 12-5 in overtime and won the game when Walker
and Dalano Banton got consecutive offensive rebounds, leading to a Banton
put the Trail Blazers ahead 105-100 with 11.5 seconds left.
The Trail Blazers outscored the Grizzlies 9-1 for second-chance points in the fourth
quarter and overtime after scoring just eight second chance points in the first
three quarters.
The Grizzlies will travel to face the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT
at the Barclays Center. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and 92.9 FM
ESPN.
