European superstars Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic are two of the best players the NBA has to offer, so a potential pairing would be a nightmare for the rest of the league.
While it’s hard to imagine either organization parting ways with its cornerstone, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki remains hopeful.
“I hope it’s in Dallas. I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen, but obviously they’re two of the best players in the world. If they’re the best players in the world now,” Nowitzki said. according to EuroHoops.net.
The Hall of Famer spent his entire 21-year NBA career with the Mavericks, which means some bias comes into play in a blatant way. Jokic is the more established of the two stars, as a three-time MVP and one-time champion, while Doncic narrowly missed out on his first ring last season.
Fans got a glimpse of Jokic and Doncic in the same lineup during Goran Dragic’s farewell game, which sparked conversation for the retired Mavs big man.
“They both have a great relationship, they respect each other and they genuinely like each other. They spend time together,” Nowitzki said. “I’m not sure, but of course we want Luka to stay in Dallas as long as possible. I hope he finishes his career there, but I love Jokic’s game, the way he plays with passion, and the skill level as a big is unbelievable. They’re both unbelievable players.”
Jokic and Doncic are each looking to bring a title to their franchise next season, but a duo would make this team unstoppable.
