In 2022-23, he won the ABA League championship. The veteran was not selected in 2016 after averaging 20.1 points, 5.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game and winning the Serbian First League MVP award with KK Borac Cacak.
Standing just 6’3″ and weighing 180 pounds, Avramovic excels at maneuvering his way through the lane and scoring in traffic.
What he can bring to the Hawks
Avramovic’s experience, success and talent are testament to his ability to make a positive impact in the NBA. With the Hawks, he’ll likely be the third point guard.
Part of that could be because Atlanta already has three players on two-way contracts. The Hawks could promote one of those players to the 15-man roster and then add Avramovic as a two-way player. However, it’s hard to imagine Atlanta wanting to pay his buyout just to get him on a two-way contract. Plus, if Avramovic got nervous or needed to adjust to the NBA, the Hawks could always send him to the G League for a mission.
He may not get much playing time as a point guard unless Atlanta turns to postless basketball. Avramovic’s size, or lack thereof, limits how much time he can play without the ball. At 6’4″, Dyson Daniels should be able to play multiple positions on the perimeter. However, Daniels is currently projected to be Trae Youngnext season’s replacement.
What he could bring to the Clippers
The Clippers currently have just one player: a rookie shooting guard Trentyn Flowers — signed a two-way contract. However, LA has several key point guards on the regular 15-man roster.
James Harden10-time All-Star, is expected to return as the team’s starting point guard. Former fifth overall pick Kris Dunnwho was acquired in Julyis supposed to be his replacement. However, the goal-scoring spirit Hyland Bones still hopes to break into the Clippers’ rotation.
As a result, there is a chance that if LA signs Avramovic, it will be to a two-way deal. With Clippers owner Steve Ballmer’s deep pockets, they are also among the franchises that could be willing to pay Avramovic’s buyout to sign him to a two-way deal. If so, he would be an “emergency break” option.
Given Harden and Dunn’s injury histories, this might not be a bad move for him.
