According to a report by RealGM, The Atlanta Hawks have expressed interest in signing Serbian goaltender Aleksa Avramovic.
Here is what the report says:
“The 6-foot-3 player reportedly has an NBA contract with CSKA Moscow. There is a buyout, to which the NBA could contribute up to $850,000 for this season. Avramovic plans to travel to Russia next week before beginning preparations for next season.
Avramovic will be 30 when the NBA season begins in late October. At the Olympics, he averaged 10.5 points on 53.3 percent shooting from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range.
The Serbian veteran spent the last three seasons at Partizan. Last season, he averaged 10.3 points on 48.6 percent shooting.
The Hawks could use more three-point shooting and Avaramovic is obviously familiar with point guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, but the Hawks are currently at full strength. The Hawks would have to make a move on their roster to sign him, as they are out of two-way contracts after signing Keaton Wallace, Seth Lundy and Dominick Barlow this offseason. Could the Hawks part ways with Cody Zeller? He seems like the logical guy to move in this scenario as I don’t see him making a big difference with the Hawks this year or in the future. David Roddy or Garrison Matthews could be let go, but I think they could both have a future with the Hawks this year, especially Matthews due to his elite three-point shooting.
This will be an interesting element to watch going forward. Atlanta has yet to make a decision on what to do with second-round pick Nikola Durisic. The Hawks are out of room for a two-way contract and the roster is full. General manager Landry Fields has a few decisions to make over the next month.
