Atlanta Hawks Superstar Trae Young would have taken up residence in a new city this year if the offseason trade market had been better, according to Tim MacMahonTrae’s superstar teammate Dejounte Muray had already been traded this offseason, leading many to believe Trae would be on the move as well.
“The fact is, if there was a real market for Trae Young, he would be somewhere else right now,” MacMahon said. “It’s not like they got a spectacular return for Dejounte Murray.”
The Hawks didn’t get much for Murray, who was an All-Star with the San Antonio Spurs in 2022. All they got was Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr. and two first-round picks, one in 2025 and one in 2027.
Trae is a multiple All-Star and is averaging 25.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 9.5 assists and one steal per game. Unfortunately for Trae, he is stuck on one of the most mediocre teams in the NBA. Teams like the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Orlando Magic and Miami Heat would all benefit greatly from his talent, but they wouldn’t give up anything for him.
So until teams are willing to part ways with players or their futures, Trae will be forced to waste his life on a team on the verge of play-in.
