Tyler Herro These injuries have prevented the Miami Heat from reaching their championship potential.

“We’re not healthy yet,” Herro said. Mat Issa of Forbes“But we feel like when we’re healthy, we’re going to have a very deep team — a team deep enough to make a run in the East and ultimately win the NBA title.”

Injuries decimated Miami last season, with Jimmy Butler, Terry Rozier, Josh Richardson, Nikola Jovic, Caleb Martinand Herro all lost a lot of time.

Bam Adebayo and then recruit Jaime Jaquez Jr. were the only players on the Heat roster to make at least 70 regular-season appearances.

Although the team managed to secure a playoff spot, Butler suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in the Heat’s first playoff game and missed the remainder of the campaign.

Miami then lost in five games to the Boston Celtics in the first round.

Herro said the Heat can make a deeper run in the playoffs with the club’s core healthy and the continued development of young pieces like Jaquez.

“It may look a little different, but we have some young players that we hope will continue to improve,” Herro said. “Bam Adebayo and I are young players that are starting to become full-fledged veterans in this league.

“Terry Rozier is healthy now and ready to compete. Then there’s Jimmy Butler, who is especially motivated after not being able to make the playoffs last season.”
