CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Hornets are looking for a new voice to carry the torch after the death of their beloved announcer “Big Pat.”

The team announced Wednesday that it is accepting applications for an advertiser.

Pat Doughty held this position for the last 20 years before his death.

“While we continue to grieve the loss of our beloved Pat Doughty, we are looking for someone who will continue his legacy – with the same passion and energy he brought to the arena each night,” said Shelly Cayette-Weston, Hornets President of Business Operations. “Big Pat will always be a part of the Charlotte Hornets organization, and we look forward to honoring his dynamic spirit in whoever we choose as our public address announcer to carry the torch.”

The Hornets said they were looking for someone who would bring his personality while understanding Big Pat’s impact.

Anyone interested can apply via the Team website until September 13th.
