CHARLOTTE, NC (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Charlotte Hornets The 2024-25 schedule includes several long stretches – home and away – and an early rematch against the defending NBA champions.

In the first season under new head coach Charles Lee and vice president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, the team will open its season on Oct. 23 in Houston. After two road games to start the season, the team will make its home debut on Saturday, Oct. 26 against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat.

Hornets to play two home games in preseason

The first two days of November, the Hornets host the champion Boston Celtics, Lee’s former team, for back-to-back games at Spectrum Center. The two teams do not meet again until the final two games of the year, both in Boston.

Beginning in late January, the Buzz will embark on an eight-game homestand, the longest in franchise history, beginning with Portland in town on Jan. 24 and concluding with games against Milwaukee and San Antonio.

In contrast to that stretch, the Hornets have two long road trips. From January 3-17, the Hornets play seven of eight games away from home in the Queen City, including against both Los Angeles teams. Then, from February 9-27, they hit the road for eight more games, with the All-Star break falling in the middle of the final stretch.

The Hornets have six games scheduled on NBA TV, and the Jan. 17 game against the Chicago Bulls is on ESPN.

The Hornets’ schedule includes 19 home games on the weekend, including eight on Friday, 10 on Saturday and one on Sunday, as well as 15 consecutive game series.

Some of the league’s biggest stars will head to Charlotte, including Stephen Curry and the Warriors (March 3), LeBron James and the Lakers (January 27), Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets (February 1) and Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (February 7).

As previously announced, the Hornets will have two home games as part of the Emirates NBA Cup group. The 22 teams that do not qualify for the knockout stages will each play two regular-season games from December 12 to 16.

The Hornets begin their five-game preseason schedule on Oct. 6.
