Fred VanVleet speaks out on Alperen Sengun’s injury to the Houston Rockets

While speaking to the media after the Houston Rockets’ 112-104 win over the Sacramento Kings, Fred VanVleet addressed Alperen Sengun’s injury and shared his pain for his young teammate.

VanVleet admitted that the fall and eventual injury definitely seemed “scary,” but he shared his hope that the problem isn’t as bad as it seemed.

“It sucks. Injuries are part of the game. We all understood this when we signed up. It’s always hard to see your teammates go down, especially young guys who haven’t really been through that before, when (things) hurt,” VanVleet said, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

“It’s a difficult and scary injury, a scary fall. Hopefully all images will come back clean. That’s all you can pray for at this point. We will be there to support this great guy. We’re praying for him, that’s for sure.

More details on the severity of Sengun’s injury are expected to be released after his MRI on Monday. A timetable for his return should also be available by then.

However, as VanVleet said, the ideal scenario is that there is no damage to Sengun’s knee and ankle, and that he only needs some time to rest and to recover.
