The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a 27-55 campaign, and they just traded their best player without adding any rookies or comparable assets in the deal for Mikal Bridges.

That’s why Bleacher Report reporter Grant Hughes believes the Nets will struggle next season, winning just 19 games for the 2024-25 campaign.

“With a series of trades that included the blockbuster Bridges, Brooklyn regained control of its own first-round pick in 2024 and is without the organization’s most prominent player for 2023-24,” Hughes writes“Few teams in recent history have announced tank work like this. And if that translates into adding a star talent like Cooper Flagg to the team, all the better. In the meantime, there will be plenty of losses, no matter how much grit Cam Thomas or Nic Claxton bring to the team.”

The Nets may be a spoiler for some teams and a trap for others, but Brooklyn will enter the vast majority of its upcoming season as a major underdog. They will own their position, but the facts are simple. The Nets do not have the talent to win many games this upcoming season, and having the worst record in the league could very well be a possibility.
