What there is to know
The Clippers are on a three-game losing streak at home, the 76ers are on a four-game losing streak on the road, but someone’s luck is about to change. The Los Angeles Clippers will face the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET. If the odds are to be believed, the Clippers are looking at one of their easiest games of the year.
Last Friday, Los Angeles earned a 125-117 victory over the Trail Blazers. The Clippers made it 101-80 late in the third, a deficit that the Trail Blazers reduced but never really recovered from.
Paul George became a supernova for the Clippers, scoring 31 points along with two steals and two blocks. George has been hot recently, scoring 26 or more points the last five times he has played.
Meanwhile, it’s hard to win when your three-point shooting is 17.1 percent worse than the opposition’s, a fact the 76ers found out the hard way on Friday. They took a 101-94 hit in the loss column against Los Angeles.
Los Angeles’ victory improved their record to 44-25. As for Philadelphia, its defeat dropped its record to 38-32.
In this competition, the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: the Clippers haven’t given up the ball easily this season, averaging just 12.3 turnovers per game. However, it’s not like the 76ers (currently ranked first in turnovers per game) are struggling in this department as they’ve only averaged 11.1 turnovers per game. Given these competing forces, it will be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
The Clippers fell short against the 76ers in their previous meeting in January 2023, losing 120-110. Can the Clippers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll know soon enough.
