What there is to know
After playing yesterday, the Oklahoma City Thunder will hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. ET on March 4 at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers suffered a loss in their last game and will look to turn things around against the Thunder, who picked up a win.
On Sunday, Oklahoma City beat the Suns 118-110. The success was a return to normal for the Thunder, who in their previous outing suffered a shocking 132-118 loss to the Spurs.
It was another big night for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who nearly had a double-double with 35 points and nine assists. He hasn’t dropped below 25 points in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles couldn’t handle the Nuggets on Saturday and fell 124-114. This defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for the Lakers in their confrontations with the Nuggets: they now have eight in a row.
Despite their defeat, the Lakers saw several players rise to the challenge and make remarkable plays. LeBron James, who nearly dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine assists, was perhaps the best of all. James is on a hot streak when it comes to points, as he has now scored 25 or more in the last six games he has played. Another player who made the difference was Austin Reaves, who had a double-double with 19 points and 14 assists.
Oklahoma City has been on a roll lately, winning seven of their last eight games, improving to 42-18 this season. As for Los Angeles, their loss ended a four-game home winning streak and dropped them to 33-29.
Fans are expected to witness an exciting matchup on Monday as both teams are currently among the most successful teams in the league. The Thunder have had no problem running up the score this season, averaging 121.2 points per game (they are ranked fourth overall). However, it’s not like the Lakers struggled in that department as they averaged 117.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to rack up points, the only question that remains is who can run up the score.
The Thunder are hoping to defy the odds on Monday as experts believe they are headed for a loss. For those looking to play the spread, take note: They are a solid 7-3-1 against the spread when playing as underdogs on the road.
