What there is to know
Spurs will be in front of their home fans on Tuesday, but a look at the gap shows they could use that home-field advantage. They will face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Both teams come into the match strengthened by their victories in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Spurs finally got the result they were hoping for on Sunday. They won against Brooklyn with a score of 122-115. The win was a much-needed relief for Spurs as it ended their three-game losing streak.
Victor Wembanyama had a dynamite game for the Spurs, posting a double-double with 33 points and 15 rebounds. Wembanyama is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he has now made two or more in the last 13 games he has played.
Meanwhile, winning is a little easier when you outscore your opponent 21-6 on the offensive boards, a fact the Mavericks proved on Sunday. Not to be outdone by Denver, Dallas got past the Nuggets on a last-second shot courtesy of Kyrie Irving with less than a second left in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks can attribute much of their success to Irving, who nearly lost a double-double with 24 points and nine assists, and Luka Doncic, who almost lost a double-double with 37 points and nine rebounds. Doncic didn’t help the Mavericks’ cause much against the Warriors on Wednesday, but the same can’t be said for this contest.
San Antonio’s win ended a three-game home drought and moved them to 15-53. As for Dallas, they have performed well recently as they have won five of their last six meetings, which has given a nice improvement to their record of 39-29 this season.
Both teams have pleased fans and bettors in their last few matches by winning and covering the spread. Going forward, the Mavericks are the favorites as experts expect them to win by 8.5 points. They might be worth a quick bet since they’ve covered the spread the last six times they’ve played.
The Spurs suffered a dismal 116-93 loss to the Mavericks in their previous game in February. Will Spurs have better luck at home than away?
